Composer and pianist, John Levine, based this work on the centuries–old use of pentatonic and lydian scales. Musical tension builds up slowly with no rush or rough discords. The spherical sounds can bring you to an alpha state within 4 minutes.
John Levine has vast experience as a composer and as a teacher of meditation. He believes that music has a powerful effect on the brain and can be designed to induce specific positive changes in mood and behaviour.
Listeners of any age will be delighted in these complex and calming recordings. As this delicate yet complex music moves lyrically from one plane to the next you will easily pick out the unmistakable refrains of nursery rhymes and lullabies from your own childhood. In the My Little Sea Shell volumes, the John Levine’s original intent was to create alphamusic especially for mothers, babies and little children. He has succeeded in this and much more. John Levine has combined universal and traditional children’s favorites with the calming scales and sound patterns of Alphamusic, in noisy classrooms and playrooms. My Little Sea Shell quickly brings about a settled, focused atmosphere.
An excellent background for children preparing for sleep. Children aged seven and under are especially responsive to these CDs.
After listening to My little Sea Shell for ten minutes they fall asleep in peace. They are calm and we are then able to rest and do our duties. I am a housewife from a while so I can take care of them fully and without this CD it could have been pretty hard for me. So it is really great that John composed it, it works well with the babies. I have no doubt about this. When you listening to it, there is different mood in your heart.

When my baby was just 2 days old in the hospital and started to cry , I put on your Alphamusic Album and played it out loud for him on my ipod and within a minute, he was fast asleep – I would highly recommend The Alphamusic of John Levine if you want your baby to sleep.

My daughter Niamh is nearly three and she hasn’t been a good sleeper since birth, because she has allergies, asthma, hay fever, she is intolerant to dairy, so she has always had something that kept her awake. We were on our knees waking up to 20 times every single night! When our second daughter Annie was born (now 1), we had to move each night between the two children, without any possibility of having sleep ourselves. I felt guilty. I felt like a bad mum, because I couldn’t get my children to sleep. We tried gradual retreat where baby gets used to you moving further away from them. It didn’t work for us, as she doesn’t have a problem going to sleep. It is more waking during the night. We could sit in the room for 2 hours trying to settle her, but that’s not sustainable as much as I would like to sit with her. She is my little girl but I need sleep too, to be able to look after her during the day. I was actually scared about driving the car, because I didn’t feel safe as I was so tired. My friend Nicola came to help me. She saw how exhausted I was. We met at soft play one day. I broke down bursting into tears. Seeing me like that and how upset I was about it all, she gave me a big hug and said she would help me. Nicola recommended I play the Alphamusic of John Levine. I got My Little Sea shells music. The results outstood our expectations. We now put this music on all night on a loop and if she briefly wakes, she goes back to sleep immediately without fuss. She has a broken sleep cycle and instead of going back to sleep she was getting up, screaming, banging the door. John’s music is now helping her to go back to sleep without us having to calm her down. Both me and James are now sleeping soundly. I can face the day with new energy and can now look after my little ones without having to worry that I am too exhausted.
